Is July a good time to visit Chicago?
Is July a good time to visit Chicago?
Absolutely. July offers the widest range of festivals, free outdoor concerts, cultural events, and summer-only attractions. It’s the heart of festival season and one of the best times of year to experience the city.
What should I wear in Chicago in July?
What should I wear in Chicago in July?
Light layers are best. Think shorts, summer dresses, breathable fabrics, and comfortable shoes for walking. A light jacket or sweater may be helpful for evenings or lakefront breezes.
What’s the best way to get around Chicago during festival season?
Many of Chicago’s biggest July events are easiest to reach using the CTA or Metra since parking can be limited around festivals and major events. If you’re visiting multiple neighborhoods, public transit will usually save you both time and money. I also recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes because you’ll likely spend more time exploring than you planned.
What to Look Forward to in July
One of my favorite things about July is that no two weekends ever look the same. You can spend one Saturday at a neighborhood street festival, the next exploring a new night market, and finish the month watching fireworks over Lake Michigan or singing along at Lollapalooza.
I’ll continue updating this guide throughout the month as new events are announced, so be sure to bookmark it before your next weekend adventure.
