Chicago Ducky Derby

The Bud Billiken® Parade
August 8, 2026 | Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, starting at 35th Street south to 55th Street in Washington Park
More than a parade, the Bud Billiken® Parade is a beloved Chicago tradition celebrating education, youth, and community. Now in its 97th year, this historic event fills Bronzeville with marching bands, dance teams, floats, community organizations, and performances as thousands gather to celebrate students heading back to school. This year’s parade is led by Grand Marshal LisaRaye McCoy, with the Bud Billiken® Royal Court honoring outstanding youth selected through the organization’s annual essay competition. The celebration concludes with the free Bud Billiken® Back-to-School Festival in Washington Park, featuring school supplies, family activities, entertainment, and valuable community resources.

Chicago Air and Water Show
August 14 – 16, 2026 | North Ave. Beach and along the Lakefront. Experience the thrill of twists, turns, and gravity-defying stunts as military and civilian pilots take to the skies during the largest free air and water show in the United States. The annual spectacle can be viewed all along Chicago’s lakefront from Fullerton Avenue to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach serving as the show’s focal point.

While Lollapalooza may kick off the month, the weeks that follow are packed with arena tours, intimate performances, and once-in-a-lifetime shows.
