This year I turned 25 and wanted to make this birthday extra special. Ringing in my quarter century in Chicago was not an option. I have celebrated two birthdays in this city and they have not been the best experiences. On one occasion I passed out, and on the other I almost got kicked out.
Clearly, these were signs for me to get out of this city altogether to celebrate my big day.
And so I did.
I traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico with four of my most amazing friends, from different parts of my life. I gave them a true ‘taycation’, a vacation Taylor-made, which usually consist of a lot of cultural exploration. This is to be expected, after all, I am the Haute Seeker. My friends and I explored the fortresses and nightlife of Old San Juan, the beauty of El Yunque, and the tastes of Condado.
I had an amazing four days exploring the beautiful island with my beautiful friends. The most rewarding aspects of this trip were truly brining my these amazing women from my high school, college, and post-college life, to one place.
Being in a warm place, with amazing people was truly amazing. I certainly plan on making this type of travel experience every year during my birth month, if not every year, at least biannually.
