The Floral Wrap Dress

For this How To Wear It Wednesday, I got a little fem(feminine) and frugal for you’ll. I embraced dress season, because it is summer, after all, caught the floral wave, and wrapped it all up in a flattering head to toe ensemble.

This season, I’ve been challenging myself to add more color and a variety of dresses to my wardrobe. I’ve always been partial to skirts, skorts, pants than anything. Maybe because I absolutely love to show off my legs. I found this lovely floral print wrap Bobeau dress at Nordstrom Rack.  This dress was a steal and came in at just under $20 bucks when I purchased it. I paired the dress with white platform heels by Calvin Klein( which are mad comfortable), and a circular cross-body by Marc Jacobs to create some bright contrast as well.

As I mentioned in a previous post, with style, especially when its personal its all about what is flattering to you as an individual. Knowing what works for one’s body type is a major key. The wrap dress is a top 10 essential piece for every woman to have in her closet. It’s incredibly iconic thanks to Diane Von Furstenberg, and for a good reason. The wrap dress creates a dynamic waist without the use of a belt. For a woman who is a little curvier, the dress defines the waist, for a woman with no curves, it creates more emphasis on the hips, as well as chest because of the lower neckline.

Overall this look was inexpensively flawless. My favorite parts about this dress are not only the fit and how well it flatters my physique but the length. I have moments of conservatism, so I often find myself drawn towards midi and maxi length pieces. This dress gives me the ideal length for my height, while also allowing me some room to be a little flirty, with just a peek of the leg, and maybe some thigh depending on how the wind blows.

Wear this dress to an upcoming summer wedding with some great heels or wedges. The dress is pretty eye-catching on its own so no need to go over the top with too many accessories. Even though the material is very light, the dress can be worn in the early parts of fall as well. Treat it almost like a tunic by pairing it with ripped denim jeans or dark khakis, and ankle length boots. No matter how you wear it, keep it simple in this all purpose dress. It really does speak for itself.
