This past Saturday I attended my first adult wedding.
I say first because my experiences with weddings have consisted of one or two things:
- The family was involved.
OR
2. I was working one.
A little background to both.
Over the past two years, two of my cousins were married. The day was of course, full of matrimony, but quickly turned into a small family reunion. Family weddings prevent me from ever catching a bouquet( don’t want to give anyone the wrong idea), or dancing too provocatively( DON’T WANT TO GIVE ANYONE THE WRONG IDEA).
My other experience with weddings is during my college days in Savannah. I interned for Morgan Gallo a wedding and event planner, as a ‘bridal stylist’. I played various other roles as well during those three months. It was a great experience. I traveled to awesome venue, met some fantastic people, and had some great perks. For the most part, I was a backdrop to these occasions. That was my role.
For the wedding, my main goal was to be the best-dressed girl in the room.
Point. Blank. Period.
Since we are currently in a transitional season. It was essential that I found a dress that was ideal for this time of year, without defaulting to the color black. I also wanted a dress that I could wear again, at a good price. So, it had to be timeless and wallet friendly.
I found the perfect little jade sheath dress the day before the wedding! It was everything I needed it to be.
Affordable. Timeless. And Colorful.
The fit was excellent. And even though it was a solid dress, it still exuded detail through the diagonally placed pin-tucked seams.
I paired the look with some navy blue costume jewelry to add more jewel tones to the look. Topping everything off we a nude clutch and sandals to complete the wedding look.
I accomplished my goal for the evening. I was the best dressed in the room( if I say so myself).
I can definitely say there were some close runner ups. I didn’t mention that the wedding I was attending, included a groom whose whole family was Nigerian.
Yeah.
They almost had me beat.
This dress was perfect for the occasion, and of course, can be styled differently again. I would wear this look with a fur coat or vest, thigh high boots for an ultra glam night out.
