The Haute Seeker

SOFA Expo Chicago

The Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design Fair a.k.a SOFA took place over the weekend from November 6th through the 8th. The annual fall arts show is held at Navy Pier and brings over 80 dealers and over 35,000 people, from international galleries to the city for a phenomenal 3-day dimensional art and design experience. The crowd was full of international the “who’s who” in the art and design community, aspiring young artists, tourist, and novice collectors like myself.

It was hard to see everything in one day! I was able, to find works that were particularly interesting to me because of their content, style, and material choice. I was most impressed with the amount of glass work at the show. Objects that were created with this particular material were by far the most show stopping pieces there. In price and in presence.

This exhibit was great because it not only highlighted international galleries and artists, but artist who are located right here in the city.  I am definitely going to check this event out next year, and maybe stop in on one of the lectures or glass-blowing tutorials. You can never pick up a new trade!
