The Coldest Winter

Baby, its cold outside. This seasonal fact should not come as a surprise for those of us living in Chicago. However, it always is! For the coldest days winter, there are a couple of things that I think are timeless and necessary year after year:

  1. Leather
  2. Fur
  3. Layers
  4. Boots

These are essential for every woman’s closet. The go-to standards for minimalist and non-minimalist alike. So, what if you are an animal advocate and wearing leather and fur is not your thing? No worries, you will also want something warm for the coldest of winters, and those cold weather essentials can easily be found in human-made fibers and recycled materials.

For this HTWIT, I had to turn a cold day into an ‘haute’ one with this winter-ready look. I paired a recently purchased velvet blouse from Zara with my BCBG midi leather skirt from about a year and a half ago. Of course, coverage is everything, so I grabbed my over the knee boots, and also wore some much-needed hosiery. Side note: hosiery is such a fantastic thing! I used to HATE wearing stockings/tights/whatever growing up. Like, I would find every reason not to wear them and find every reason to destroy them. Now, I can’t get enough of them. Funny how the things you despised as a child happen to be much more valued as an adult.

Anyways, I topped the whole look off with my faux black, and white coyote inspired coat. This was a great look to mix some well-kept closet pieces, with something a little trendy for this season, the velvet shirt. For this look, did not require too many layers due to the denser texture of the velvet shirt and the extra layer of hosiery.

The Coldest Winter look is one of my favorite outfits to date. It’s conservative fashion at its finest. You will be fully covered, warm, and still very much noticed and en vogue all at this same time.

Check out some photos of this look below. I was giving face right? I mean, how could I not! When you are in fur and leather, looking warm and flawless its only right that you frame your fiercest of faces.
