An Authentic Skid Mark’s ‘If the wind were water we’d all be really whet’ will be coming to a close this weekend. Chicago fashion designer Kaileigh Moynihan collaborated with 25 local practitioners to create a capsule collection of plus-size garments with an accompanying runway presentation and exhibition. It’s a Girls Night Out Sip N’Shop supporting local shops owned and operated by Women! Join BAPA and the Southside Women’s Business Alliance for fun Sip & Shop, showcasing women-owned businesses on 99th and 103rd Streets. The evening will feature shopping, demos, food and beverage tastings and more, followed by an after-party at Tranquility, 9 to 11 p.m. $10 (advance) or $15 (at the door). Celebrate Oktoberfest on the South Side this weekend with Brews, Brats, and Brass. This event presented by Sam Adams will feature Oktoberfest and pumpkin beers along with a selection of ciders. Brats and bbq will be on the grill along with sweet fall harvest treats. Chow down with good eats and brass bands at this 2nd Annual Hyde Park event. The festival takes place all weekend long, be sure to snag your tickets and check out the full lineup of bands performing here.

On Saturday, August 19th, 2017 the #EveryWoman teams gathered in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City & Toronto to assemble and distribute their first Feminine care packages. They are back again this Saturday with a goal to deliver 1,000 feminine care packages to women who are living on the street or in homeless shelters on the West and South Sides of the city. Write, assemble, or even drop off the care packages, any and all help is appreciated. Join the initiative by writing, assembling, or delivering packages to women in need. EXPO Chicago: Art After Hours

EXPO Chicago is back in town this weekend! This is one of my favorite events in the fall and is a must-see if you have never been. If you are looking for alternative options to the expo, check out the Art After Hours this Friday. The citywide open gallery night invites EXPO CHICAGO visitors and the Chicago community to experience the city’s vibrant art scene, including alternative exhibition venues and performance spaces, across various Chicago neighborhoods. Some events to check out along with the extended gallery openings are the Wabash Arts Corridor and the Sub Chroma Pop-Up.
64th American Indian Center Chicago Traditional Powwow

The American Indian Center celebrates the changes of life and community with Native music, dance, and culture with its 64th Annual Powwow event. The powwow is an authentic celebration of Native American culture and will feature native artists, dancers, drummers, as well as food vendors, all things that are very hard to come by in Chicago. Experience a new community this weekend.
