Weekend Seekers Guide: October 19th – 22nd

Last weekend I was off seeking a couple new cities and did not share a guide with you. Fear not. I’ve got an excellent list of things to do this weekend. Grand Opening for Schweet Foods Cheesecake

If you love cheesecake then you will love the new opening of Schweet Foods Cheesecake. The baked goods company will open a brick-and-mortar location on the city’s West Side. In addition to whole cakes and slices, the store will sell cupcakes, specialty coffee, and live entertainment too. Celebrate the final days of October at the German American Cultural Center(Dank Haus). The end to Oktoberfest at the cultural center will feature a Paloma Band plus German food and drinks. Housing as Human Right: Social Construction

In conjunction with the Chicago Architecture Biennial, join the National Public Housing Museum and ARCHEWORKS  for the opening reception of Housing as a Human Right: Social Construction. The exhibition explores the aspects of architectural and design interventions along with oral histories of housing residents and artifacts recovered from Jane Addams Homes. The presentation is one that challenges mainstream narratives about public housing.
