The 2nd Annual Smokin’ in the Park brings together over a dozen of the best BBQ restaurants and pit-masters in the city for a people’s choice baby back ribs competition. Mole de Mayo is one of the city’s most highly anticipated festivals of the season. Thousands of locals and visitors make their way to Chicago’s historic Pilsen neighborhood for a mole showdown, determining whose version of the Mexican staple is the best in the city. The outdoor festival will also feature food vendors, an open Mercado/Market, two stages of full of live music, plus lucha libre wrestling. This free event is organized and benefits the Eighteenth Street Development Corporation, an organization serving the Pilsen neighborhood for over three decades. Unity Student Fashion Group, a student-led organization featuring fashion designers from the city’s local colleges and universities and Social Works, will host a fashion show to support Chicago Public Schools this Friday. The fashion show will not only feature the creative talents of five local designers but live musical performances, pro-skate features, food, and drinks, as well as student-designed merchandise. Chicago House Music Festival

The house music festival in Millennium Park is a celebration of Chicago breed music and culture phenomena that you do not want to miss this weekend. The free event will showcase DJ’ and live performances of various sounds and styles of the Chicago born musical genre. WGHC Street Festival

Make your way to Uptown this weekend for the first annual WGHC Street Festival, Chicago’s 1st event Ghanian/ African radio station. The station will promote peace and non-violence in the community through a full day of community activities. Activities will include a jollof competition, live music, a DJ spinning competition, and vendor booths from local businesses.
