The Annual Kimono Exhibition

Saturday – Sunday |June 24th -25th| 12:00 p.m – 5:00 p.m.

Japanese Cultural Center |1016 W. Belmont Ave.| Free


The Annual Kimono Exhibit is hosted by the Japanese Culture Center and will showcase 20 never before featured historical kimonos from the Ikka Nakashima Sensei Collection. The event will also feature a photo booth, a kimono tieing how to, and raffle for a shibori haori(kimono jacket) This free event is also a great opportunity to check out other elements of the center which also offers classes in Sumi-E painting and martial arts. Sip & Shop Chicago with LoCat

Celebrate with the fashion and beauty blogger for a collaborative pop-up with local vendors like Enstrumental and Bella Rosa. Sip, shop, and mix with some of the cities chicest. A portion of the tickets will benefit the Donda House. Grab your tickets here.

Chicago Food Truck Festival

One of my favorite summer festivals in the city, the Chicago Food Truck Fest is a staple on the South Side. The fest features over 45+ gourmet food trucks, nonstop entertainment, of course, refreshing drinks. A diverse food festival of vendors and attendees, this event is sure to be packed so be sure to grab a VIP ticket that includes early admission and a drink ticket. More information here.

Chicago Rosé Day

It’s definitely rosé season here in Chicago! What better way to kick off the official summer season than with an all day sip and social of the sweet pink drink. Hunt For Good

Grab your clique and get to seeking for good with The Hunt for Good scavenger hunt. The three-hour excursion will take place across the loop and surrounding areas encouraging participant’s to look for the ‘simple good all around you’. The Simple Good, an organization whose mission is to connect the meaning of good from around the world empowering at-risk youth to become positive activists. Join a team and learn more about this incredible organization here.

30 Queer Plays in 60 Straight Minutes

The Neo-Futurists present their annual Pride Weekend benefit: 30 Queer Plays in 60 Straight Minutes, a special edition of The Infinite Wrench that corrals the queerest plays into one show, slaying gender roles and celebrating deviance. The play goes all weekend long with Thursday night’s performance benefiting YEPP the (Youth Empowerment Performance Project), whose mission is to create a safe environment for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness to address their struggles and celebrate their strengths through the process of developing a theatrical performance piece. Church in the Wild

Church in the Wild is an interactive fan and performer experience featuring Chicago native Sir the Baptist. A concert series that takes God and spiritually in nontraditional places. During the nights live recording for Tidal, the artist will be joined by a full orchestra, as well as musical artist Brandy, Michelle Williams, Ray J and gospel artist Donald Lawrence.
