Bridgeport Arts Center’s Pop-Up Fashion Show

Nothing better than the fresh designs of local fashion designers right? Head over to the Bridgeport Art Center for an evening of original collections from some well-known and emerging artists. The fashion design center was created exclusively for designers whose creations will be featured this Friday night. A mix of contemporary, bridal, evening and more, this event is free and open to the public. Check out some of this incredible talent. You’ll be glad to say, “I knew them when.”


Harajuku Fashion Walk

Saturday |June 17th| 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

If you love fashion from around the world and celebrating a culture that is different from your own, then these monthly strolls are perfect for you! Join the Harajuku Fashion Walk this Saturday. Real Men Cook Chicago Father’s Day

This Father’s Day, celebrate the special man in your life with the organization Real Men Cook. A multiple place event that is presented by Real Men Charities, Inc. The city-wide indoor and outdoor food sampling social bring a celebratory, family reunion atmosphere to over seven public locations. The event highlights and celebrates all fathers. Festa Pasta Vino

Head west this weekend for the Oakley Festa Pasta Vino located in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood. This annual celebration of Italian culture, features three stages of headline entertainment, great Italian wines, authentic Italian food specialties from the incredible restaurants located in that “Little Tuscany” area. Venetian-costumed performers, statues that line the street and a Florentine market filled with finely crafted Italian merchandise is a staple city event during the summer in Chicago.

It’s Your Park Day

Beautify your park this Saturday by volunteering with the Chicago Parks Foundation during a city-wide park cleanup. Community volunteers will be mulching trees, replacing fibar on playgrounds and cleaning up all around green spaces. This is an excellent way to meet neighbors and build community on a local level. West Side Arts: Rootwork, Girl Bands, and Activating Public Archives

The West Side neighborhoods in Chicago are in need of change, and the artist’s community is doing something about it. Learn about emerging art initiatives taking place in Pilsen, North Lawndale, Austin and the Lower West side neighborhoods through a panel discussion held by the director of the Joyce Foundation’s Culture Program and founding curator of Rootwork Gallery, artist, and community activist. The initiative behind this conversation is held through the National Endowment for the Humanities that seeks to connect the West Side community in Chicago through its residents, scholars, and other stakeholders. Gold Coast Art Fair at Grant Park

The “Granddaddy of American Art Festivals” is back again for its 59th year.  Rated as one of the top 30 juried art festivals in the nation, the fest welcomes over 300 artists from around the world to Grant Park. The fest hosts a collection of artists who feature works in various prices and mediums. This is a great fest to take the art appreciating dad in your life, and even better festival to shop for last minute artisanal gifts.
