There is nothing better than playing catch-up with a girlfriend. There is nothing better than commencing this catch-up over a chef-driven dinner, in an upscale restaurant, with fabulous service over wine and amazing conversation with the head chef and owner, in Chicago’s West Loop on unseasonably warm, Friday evening in the city. And yes, we received all of that marvel while dinner at BIN 36.
Our dinner happened to have taken place during Black Restaurant Week, so of course, supporting our culture, we decided to patron a black-owned business that neither one of us had been to. We made a perfect choice.
Bin 36 is nestled between Jefferson and Randolph street, located just east of the ever-growing ‘restaurant row’ in the West Loop. The restaurant is pretty convenient. Excellent place for those seeking an after-work spot. It is in close proximity to major headquarters within the area like the Chicago Transit Authority and Union Station.
My friend and I started off our dinner with a rosé wine flight, because rosé is not solely reserved for the summertime. We also decided to take advantage of the happy hour menu and share an order of brussels sprouts and fish tacos. As we pondered the menu for our entrees for the evening, we were greeted by the owner Enoch Shully, and soon after, his head Chef Julian. These two wonderful men treated my friend and I like royalty the rest of the evening and extended immense hospitality throughout our meal. Chef Julian treated us to a 6-course meal that he personally selected for us. We were given excellent service that I am sure is not far reaching for this restaurant, as Enoch showed courtesy to many of his guests who were also dining in the restaurant as well that evening.
The food was amazing. High-quality dishes comprised of complex entrees and decadent desserts. The wine selection at BIN 36 is pretty impeccable too. Our rosé flight featured everything from light, sparkling, and full bodied wines. Again, a great spot if you for happy hour, especially on Wine Wednesday when flights are only $13!
BIN 36 is definitely on my #hautelist of restaurants to visit in the city. They have a brunch menu that I look forward to trying in the future, as well an outdoor patio that I cannot wait to take advantage of in the warmer months! Make your way over to this Haute Seeker approved restaurant and enjoy amicable service, a sophisticated atmosphere, quality new American style cuisine, all paired with a top-notch wine selection.
