Power, passion, danger, and strength are few of the many words that describe the color red. The bold color became one of the seasons hottest trends, as designers from New York to Paris sent waves of red down the runways for fall 2017.
Many designers have constructed this season’s “it” color in different styles, silhouettes, and fabrics. Givenchy’s Fall 2017 collection, created by the studio team(no new lead designer just yet ) featured 28 glamourous geometric and well-constructed garments, all in the same shade of red. While Ralph Lauren kept things upper-class Americana, as usual, with his slick, lacquered lambskin trench coat in a fire engine hue. Finally, Max Mara kept it casual in apple and ruby-like shades. The layered looks featured the brand’s use of signature outwear, knits, and velvet culottes for a simple look in this powerful color.
The dominant color scheme comes as no surprise. During this crucial time of political and cultural shifts, that color seems to stand out for more than just attributes to the fashion industry, but more importantly, remain symbolic as a color that saves, sacrifices, and stands boldly in the face of adversity.
How To Wear It: Red is one of the very few colors that you can wear from head to lip, toe to hip, so go all out! Do the most in a monochromatic look, by layering various shades of red hues and different tones one on top of the other. Not ready to go all out? Take subtle steps by integrating the shade into your wardrobe with a wardrobe basics likes sweaters, or outwear essentials like a leather jacket.
