The 2nd Annual Woodlawn Food Truck Fest event along with the 3rd Annual Soulful Chicago Book Fair takes place this weekend on the South Side. The Woodlawn Food Truck Festival brings the entire Woodlawn Community together as one community by creating an event that family and friends of the neighborhood can enjoy. Attendees will enjoy great mobile cuisines at affordable prices, as well as get to know the neighborhood while attending many of the events presented by the Soulful Chicago Book Fair as well as live entertainment. The backdrop to our benefit show is Shane Elliot Bowers’ Solo Exhibition “Southern Drawl,” featuring archival audio works, video, sound portraits, and photography. All proceeds will go to the ACLU. Back Alley Jazz

Back Alley Jazz is a free community event led by Chicago artists Fo Wilson and Norman Teague, in collaboration with the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, the Hyde Park Art Center and South Shore residents. The one-day event presents musicians, artists, and designers in garages and alleys in the South Shore neighborhood, creating a contemporary neighborhood happening that builds on and celebrates Chicago’s history of the neighborhood jam, as inspired by the original Jazz in the Alley events. Check out the full list of performers and locations for the various acts by visiting the event webpage.
