Macy’s Celebrates Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Join Macy’s on State Street as they celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month with Chicago fashion blogger Jennifer Worman, the blogger behind Red Soles and Red Wine. The event will also feature a presentation and meet & greet with Korean beauty expert, Morgan Stewart from The Beauty Breakdown. She will discuss the role her culture and traditions have played in her approach to beauty and demonstrate her famous beauty techniques. Guests of the event will also enjoy traditional baked goods from Chinatown’s Chiu Quon Bakery, bubble tea from Te’amo Boba Bar and a braid bar by Diem Angie Co. 18th & Harbee’s Spring Party

Thai New Year Water Festival

Make your way to Uptown this weekend for the first inaugural Thai New Year Water Festival. The event will feature over 30 vendors, consisting of traditional Thai food artisanal goods. The two-day festival will also feature Thai dances, live music, traditional new year customs, and beer tents showcasing local Thai beers. Admission to this event is free, however, a suggested donation of $5 support event staff and organizers is appreciated. A Brunch of Us.

Experience brunch a little differently this weekend with the Chicago debut of A Brunch Of Us. The family style brunch and day party will take place this Sunday at the Currency Exchange, the black-owned coffee shop on the city’s South Side specializing in breakfast, lunch, coffee, and great vibes. Brunch tickets include family-style dining and bottomless bellinis sponsored by Gentleman Jack. There will be two brunch seating: 1pm and 2:30 pm. Following the brunch will be a day party featuring music by some well known DJ’s representing both Chicago and Atlanta. Grab your crew and enjoy a brunch differently this weekend. 2nd annual Pitch Black Competition

Join Gray Matter Experience for their 2nd annual Pitch Black Student Pitch Competition. During the event, hear how six student groups plan to change the landscape of underrepresented neighborhoods in Chicago through business development. The students will have an opportunity to win a portion of $20,000 in seed funding and additional prizes for their business while gaining invaluable feedback from a distinguished panel of judges to implement before launching. Be amongst the mentors, partners, sponsors, and supporters of The Gray Matter Experience in one of Chicago’s largest innovation hubs, mHUB, to encourage these students as they compete for a life-changing opportunity. Chicago River Walk Kickoff Celebration

Get ready for Summer Time Chi with a preview event at Chicago’s River Walk. The weekend kick-off event will feature fireworks, tours, kayaking, Fishing at the Jetty, great food, live music and more. The event is free, with special discounts being offered by various restaurants and participating vendors. Dock 6 Design & Art 11

Make your way to Chicago’s Belmont-Cragin neighborhood for the annual design and art open house at Dock 6 Collective. Dock 6 Collective is a 50,000 sq ft shared workshop facility. It is home to many well-known designers and fabricators in Chicago. The event will feature a myriad of design objects and are displayed throughout the massive space. What I’m Seeking:

This weekend, I will be taking everything Chicago has to offer! Friday I will most likely be bar hopping downtown with the after-work crowd. Saturday, I will be hosting a personal branding event with my professional organization and checking out the Dock 6 event. Sunday is entirely up in the air, but I am sure I will find something to do.
