This Friday, join the Portage Park community for an untraditional Chicago event. The Six Corners Association will transform the Filament Theatre theater into a honky-tonk inspired hub of country-style cuisine from local restaurants, beer tastings from craft breweries, and live Bluegrass music. The Federal government may( or may not be) pulling out of Puerto Rico, but the efforts by local Chicagoans and others across the U.S. aren’t stopping anytime soon. This Saturday, dance and drink the night away for a good cause at the Latin Dance Night Fundraiser.  Ticket sales will go to support the Foundation for Puerto Rico, a non-profit working directly with citizens to help rebuild the infrastructure of the U.S. territory. Jazz, Soul, and Hip-Hop come together this Friday night at Emporium Arcade in Wicker Park. The arcade/ venue will feature live music from multi-instrumentalist Sam Trump along with the five-piece band DASSiT, and soul hip-hop artist/rapper Elton Aura.

Stop by the Chicago Artists Coalition for the opening night of Artist-in-Residence Jeffery Grauel’s solo exhibition “Public School.” The BOLT award-winning resident will showcase two new sculptural bodies of work. More details about the artist and this weekend’s exhibit available here.
