Randolph Street Market brings you “Passions & Vanities” this weekend in the West Loop. Hyde Park Handmade Bazaar

Brunch, shop, and vibe this Sunday at this month’s Hyde Park Handmade Bazaar. The indoor event features dozens of neighborhood artists, food makers, and DIY-ers. Make plans to adjust your diet this weekend because it’s what foodies everywhere have been waiting for: restaurant week. The 14-day event features over 370 participating restaurants offering multi-course prix fixe menus starting at $22 for brunch or lunch, and $33 and/or $44 for dinner. Make reservations early to grab a seat at some of the city’s most notorious and notable restaurants. I’ve narrowed down my personal ‘haute’ list of places that I definitely want to try including Bistronomic, Tanta, Fifolet, Bronzeville Bistro, and Osteria Langhe. Want to put your stamina to the test? You can this weekend for the 2018 Step up For Kids at the Aon Center. Thousands across Chicagoland will join together to climb 80 floors to the top of the Aon Center, on the Chicago’s tallest buildings, all to raising life-saving funds for the patients and families of the Lurie Children’s Hospital. Post-climb, complimentary food, and beverages will be served along with a spectacular view of the city from the Mid-America Club. Rethinking the American Prison Movement

Explore the transformational and ongoing struggles against America’s prison system with the authors of  “Rethinking the American Prison Movement,” Toussaint Losier and Michael C. Dawson. Losier is an Assistant Professor in the W.E.B Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, while Dawson is the John D. MacArthur Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago. The two will come together to discuss the history of American prisons and the struggles for justice still echoing in the present day. What I’m Seeking:

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that my birthday was one for the books! I enjoyed an amazing weekend surrounded by people that I love. Thank you for all of your birthday wishes and for seeking with me during my bday weekend. This weekend, I kick things off at school. Yep, I am back in school!  Friday through Sunday my plans are up in the air, but I will be out and about. Sunday, catch me networking with the black blogger community at Renaissance in Bronzeville.
