This weekends Haute List is all about culture. Experience unique culture through fashions from another continent, wine from around the world, and even architecture in an unfamiliar neighborhood. No better time than this weekend to learn something new and seek something different.

The annual event makes its way back to Chicago this weekend. As a previous “rioter,” I can say this event is definite must. Wine Riot is an all access pass to sip and savor over 250 wines from around the globe. The event also features talks from wine experts and sommeliers, who offer expert tips and tricks on the popular spirit. Post-riot, the hundreds of wines served, can easily be found at Benny’s or other speciality grocers in the city. Wine Riot also makes it easy to track down favorites with their app. Although, you may forget to reach for your phone after a couple of glasses. Just speaking from personal experience.

Eat and Drink for a good cause all October long. The Lynn Sage Foundation has partnered with more than 150 Chicagoland restaurants like Stan’s Donuts and Howells & Hood, to help raise money for breast cancer research. Restaurants donate a $1 per check from designated food or drink items created for the month of October. The proceeds benefit The Lynn Sage Scholars Program. A local awards scholarships that is awarded to talented researchers, in the early stages of their research careers, who are committed to supporting the field of breast cancer research.

There are many reasons why I love Chicago in October, this is probably the main one. Open House Chicago opens the doors of over 200 unique and very cool places this weekend. The annual open house, sponsored by the Chicago Architecture Foundation, allows guests to visit iconic architectural treasures throughout Chicago. These places are sacred, and rarely open to the public. This is truly a must-do! I featured this event last year when I started my blog. I have personally visited over 15 different sites through the open house. It is a great opportunity to venture into different and diverse neighborhoods in the city, and discover the rich and important cultural Chicago has throughout the city.
